Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly identified the positive aspects of the hotel, explained the issues with the food, and provided constructive suggestions for improvement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task. To reach a higher band, ensure that the explanation of why the food was unsatisfactory is more precise; for instance, mentioning specific dietary requirements or the quality of the ingredients would add more depth to your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task. You use some cohesive devices like 'Additionally' and 'However' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor errors in sentence structure, such as the comma splice in the first paragraph ('...business meetings, I arranged...'). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'impressed', 'supportive', and 'tempting'. There are some instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'availability of non-vegetarian cuisines were responsible for restricting vegetarian guests to face hunger' and 'encourage them consume their desire'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more natural collocations would help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('availability... were', 'guest dislike') and article usage ('the limited meals options'). Punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in the opening, also occur. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed correctly. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher band.
