Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: it mentions the positive aspects of the hotel, explains the issues with the lunch, and provides a suggestion for improvement. However, the development of these points is somewhat basic. For instance, the explanation of why the food was unsatisfactory ('cold food', 'lot spice') is quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on these ideas with more detail or context. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening 'Dear sir' is slightly informal compared to the required 'Dear Sir or Madam'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure of your complaint. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes repetitive. Phrases like 'The food was' and 'I just want to' are used in a way that makes the flow feel a bit mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'In addition to this') to connect your ideas more fluidly and improve the logical progression between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on simple descriptors like 'good', 'great', and 'well'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'well setup of chairs' and 'well clean separate area', which sound unnatural. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are contextually accurate. For example, instead of 'well clean', use 'well-maintained' or 'hygienic'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('the hotel managements'), subject-verb agreement ('Our company members given us'), and word order ('there was lot spice'). While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are noticeable and occur in basic sentence structures. You should focus on proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency. Increasing your use of complex sentence structures would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
