Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this to provide feedback about meeting which recently held at your location. I would like you appreciate some facilities provided by your staff as well as plenty of concerns regarding to catering.
Firstly, participants are highly impressed by the conference room due to specious area and comfortable seating arrangements. In addition to that, not only decoration but also parking arrangements was amazing. Besides this, check-in services provided by your professional front staff was wonderful since waiting time was very low and all the process was straightforward.
However, our experience with food was disappointing because temperature of main course was luck-warm as well as some vegetables was overcooked. Moreover, breads are undercooked which lead significant problem to our staff. Thus, you should hire experience cook for your hotel in order to attract more customers and provide a quality of treatment to the people.
I hope you will consider my advice for providing favourable experience to your potential customer.
Kind regards,
Krisha

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly identify what the participants liked (conference room, parking, staff), explain the issues with the food (temperature, overcooked vegetables, undercooked bread), and provide a suggestion for improvement (hiring an experienced cook). The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly on the impact of the poor lunch on the meeting's overall success, which would help to further develop your ideas and provide a more persuasive argument for the manager.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'In addition to that', 'However', and 'Thus' to guide the reader through your points. While the structure is sound, some of the transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, ensure that your referencing is always precise; for example, in the second paragraph, 'not only decoration but also parking arrangements was amazing' contains a subject-verb agreement error that slightly disrupts the flow of the sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'straightforward', 'favourable', and 'professional'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'specious area' (likely meaning 'spacious'), 'luck-warm' (lukewarm), and 'quality of treatment'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precise vocabulary usage. Focusing on common collocations related to hospitality and service would help you move into a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'meeting which recently held', 'vegetables was overcooked', 'breads are undercooked') and article usage. While these errors are noticeable, the meaning remains clear throughout the letter. To improve, pay closer attention to pluralization and verb tense consistency. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures while reducing these frequent minor errors will significantly improve your score in this criterion.
