Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
Hope you are doing well. I am writing a letter regarding the feedback which I got from my employees, we recently conduct a full day meeting in your hotel.
I appreciate your efforts like setting arrangements in good manner as well as speakers and led working in good way. My company booked same hotel since the last three years because I always got good feedback. In the conference room when I need extra tables and chairs your team provide an excellent service within few minutes after my command.
Now this time, we all feel the quality and quantity is not like the same previous years. The food is not look like fresh it contain moisture thatswhy it is sticky on hands even the quantity is not sufficient and we reorder some snacks but the service guy told us, we should wait for 30 more minutes.
We did not have much for our brakes, because we have some sessions pending and we want to finish our metting until 5.00pm.
I request you please upgrade your food quality it does not perfectly in your hotel and people expect more from you guys.
Your Sincerely
Ram

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully identified the positive aspects of the hotel, explained the issues with the food, and provided a suggestion for improvement. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited by the informal and occasionally unclear phrasing. For example, the explanation of the food quality is a bit repetitive and lacks professional tone. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are fully extended with more precise descriptions of the events and the desired outcomes. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though it occasionally slips into conversational language.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions between ideas are often abrupt, such as the jump from the positive feedback to the negative experience. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and some sentences feel disconnected. To improve, try using a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition to this') to create a smoother flow between your points and to better connect the sentences within each paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. You rely on basic descriptors like 'good' and 'nice' (implied), and there are some awkward collocations, such as 'led working in good way' and 'service guy'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word choice, such as 'brakes' instead of 'breaks' and 'metting' instead of 'meeting'. To improve, focus on using more specific professional vocabulary related to hospitality and business meetings, and ensure you are using the correct terminology for common business situations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('your team provide'), tense inconsistencies ('we recently conduct'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are run-on or lack necessary articles. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic tense consistency and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound. Practicing the use of complex sentences with correct subordinating conjunctions will also help improve your range.
