Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the required points. While you mention the hotel and the food, the explanation of why participants were unhappy is somewhat unclear, and the suggestion for improvement is brief. You did not fully address the first bullet point regarding what the participants liked about the hotel, as the letter focuses almost exclusively on the negative aspects of the lunch. To improve, ensure you expand on each bullet point with specific details and reach the required length to allow for a full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks clear paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. The text is essentially one long block, and the use of cohesive devices is very limited. Phrases like 'any how' are used informally and do not effectively link the sentences. To improve, you should organize your letter into distinct paragraphs: one for the positive feedback, one for the complaints, and one for your suggestions. Using transition words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' would help create a better flow between your points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'up happy' instead of 'unhappy' and 'up grate' instead of 'upgrade'. The phrasing 'participants point of view' is awkward, and the sentence structure makes it difficult to convey your meaning precisely. You rely on a limited range of words, and some terms are used incorrectly in context. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to business correspondence and ensure you check your spelling and word forms before finalizing your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb tense ('which were visited'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, such as 'the korma was so spicy and oily we did not eat well as I was special advise you before coming'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with commas used incorrectly to join independent clauses. To improve, focus on writing shorter, clearer sentences and practice basic subject-verb agreement and proper punctuation. Reviewing the use of past and present tenses will also help clarify your message.
