IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You recently organised an all-day meeting for your company, which took place in a local hotel. In their feedback, participants at the meeting said that they liked the hotel, but they were unhappy about the food that was served for lunch.

Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter

• say what the participants liked about the hotel
• explain why they were unhappy about the food
• suggest what the manager should do to improve the food in future

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear sir, or Madam,

I am writing to provide some feedback about the meeting that my company recently held at you hotel.

Overall, everyone was very pleased with the hotel reception staff. Staff helped every member of the meeting by personally escorting them to the meeting room. The meeting room was very spacious with the appropriate lighting and provided a comfortable environment for the entire day.

However. the main area of dissatisfaction was the food that was provided that day for lunch. Several participants felt that there is not enough variety of dishes on the menu. Some of the dishes were even served cold that day which made me feel embarrassed in front of all the members. Some people even found the vegetarian section to be rather limited and flavour-less.

I would therefore suggest to offer wide range of dishes on menu including more vegetarian and healthy options. It would be advisable to ensure that the food is being served at the appropriate temperature. Finally i recommend asking the clients about their dietary plans before an event so that the menu can be adjusted accordingly.
