Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You successfully mentioned what participants liked about the hotel, such as the equipment and comfortable furniture, explained why they were unhappy with the food quality and lack of proper dining arrangements, and offered a practical suggestion for improvement regarding advance organization. However, the tone and vocabulary are somewhat repetitive, and the ideas could be developed with slightly more elaboration to reach a higher band. Nevertheless, the requirements of the prompt are fully met in a clear, straightforward manner. You have achieved a solid Band 6.0 for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter follows a clear overall arrangement with an appropriate opening and closing, and uses basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'However' to connect ideas. However, the paragraphing is very weak, with multiple distinct ideas crammed into a single block of text rather than being divided into logical paragraphs for each prompt requirement. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the sudden shift from talking about the company meeting to 'our party'. Cohesive devices are occasionally mechanical or misused. This places the response firmly at Band 5.0 for Coherence and Cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points clearly, but the range is quite limited. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'equipments' (equipment is uncountable), 'long sitting periods', and 'foord' (spelling error). You attempt some less common items like 'orgainzed structure' and 'prior the meeting', but these contain spelling mistakes and grammatical slip-ups. Because the errors are noticeable and restrict precision, the vocabulary aligns with a Band 5.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response shows a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms, such as 'I am writing this email about the feedback on the meeting that took place in a local hotel.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing punctuation, run-on sentences ('there were not properly organized areas for eating foord there were no chairs inside'), and preposition errors ('giving you time' instead of 'your time'). Control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent, which frequently causes difficulty for the reader and places this performance at Band 5.0.
