Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You successfully covered all bullet points required for this letter. You mentioned what participants liked about the hotel, such as 'a well lit space, colourful decorations and comfortable seats,' explained why they were unhappy by pointing out that 'the jellof rice that was served on that event was sour to taste,' and suggested improvements, including 'screening of chefs prior to employment.' However, the tone and opening of your letter veer slightly towards a formal complaint rather than a balanced feedback letter, and there are some awkward references to management company structures. Despite these minor issues, all three parts of the task are addressed and supported adequately, earning a solid band score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a clear logical organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing the specific points, and a sign-off. Cohesive devices like 'on a first note,' 'in addition,' and 'however' are used to structure the text, although some feel slightly unnatural or mechanical. Paragraphing is used to separate ideas, though the paragraphs could be better delineated, and some sentences lack proper capitalisation at the beginning ('on a first note,' 'in addition,' 'i would like'). Referencing is mostly clear, allowing the reader to follow your thoughts easily throughout the piece.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You attempted some less common and topic-specific vocabulary such as 'enormous turnout,' 'maximum comfort,' and 'appropriate precautions,' which adds value to your writing. However, there are noticeable word choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'resturant' instead of restaurant, 'jellof' instead of jollof, 'attendants' instead of attendees, and 'maximuim.' Additionally, phrases like 'express my give you both positive and negative feedbacks' contain grammatical clutter and unnatural collocations. The range is adequate for the task, but errors in spelling and word formation keep the score at a band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You demonstrated a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as relative clauses ('which was hosted at your resturant') and conditional-like suggestions. However, there are numerous basic grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text. These include missing capital letters at the start of sentences ('on a first note,' 'in addition,' 'i would like'), spelling issues, and awkward phrasing such as 'a backlash my own side being the planner' and 'mistake is from an taking steps.' While these errors do not impede overall communication—the reader easily understands your meaning—they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score.
