Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You successfully mentioned what the participants liked about the hotel, such as the welcome drink, flower decorations, and staff service. You also explained why they were unhappy about the food, pointing out that vegetarian and vegan options were too limited and that certain dishes like beef and pork were partially uncooked while the chicken was oily and spicy. Finally, you provided a suggestion for the manager to improve the food for future events. Although some ideas are expressed simply and contain minor task-related generalisations, all key requirements of the prompt are satisfactorily addressed, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter maintains a reasonably coherent overall arrangement and follows a standard letter structure with a salutation and sign-off. However, paragraphing and referencing are sometimes faulty. For instance, sentences are grouped together somewhat awkwardly, such as 'However, minor problem conducting your cuisine...' followed by disconnected thoughts. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes inaccurate, as seen in punctuation errors where sentences are inappropriately split by periods before conjunctions (e.g., '...limited. which need to work...'). Overall progression is discernible, but mechanical errors in cohesion limit the score to a Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is adequate to convey the main points of the letter, attempting some less common items such as 'mesmrizing', 'decoration', and 'cuisine'. However, there are frequent spelling mistakes and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'mettings' for meetings, 'dring' for drink, 'vegeterian', 'vegen', 'requirment', 'fututre', and 'imapct'. Despite these errors, the message remains understandable. To reach a higher band, you need to reduce spelling mistakes and demonstrate greater control over less common lexical items and collocations, placing your lexical resource at a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors in verb tense, agreement, and sentence structure. Examples include 'our all the guest including our staff were mesmrizing', 'all services was maintain on professional way', and 'people will review according thier test. still in fututre might be major imapct'. Punctuation is also problematic, with fragments and comma splices occurring frequently. These errors can cause occasional difficulty for the reader, leading to a Band 5.0 for grammatical range and accuracy.
