Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points in the task and maintain a suitable purpose: you praise the hotel’s ambience, spacious seating, welcome and beverage service, explain that the food was cold, the chicken undercooked and some curry too spicy, and suggest using hot plates and having a senior manager check quality. These details make the complaint specific and relevant. The response also has an appropriate letter format and a courteous closing. To strengthen it further, develop the suggestions more clearly—for example, explain how the hotel could keep each dish at a safe serving temperature or respond when guests report a problem. The final promise, “We will come next time,” slightly softens the complaint without explaining whether the improvements are expected before another booking.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a recognisable progression from its purpose and positive feedback to the food complaint and recommendations. Paragraphing helps separate the hotel’s strengths from the problems, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “But” and “However” guide the reader. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “However in every big events this thing happen” does not clearly link to the proposed improvements, and “Even I personally told your team member…” would fit more naturally directly after the food problems. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, while the short closing statements feel abrupt. Grouping the positive details, complaint, and practical recommendations into distinct paragraphs, with clearer links between them, would make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points and include some relevant descriptive language, such as “spacious,” “outstanding,” “undercooked” and “food quality.” The specific descriptions of the meal help make the complaint understandable. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “convienient,” “appitizer,” “spicey” and “interier.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “front team,” “your beverages service” and “this thing happen.” These choices sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Aim for accurate, natural collocations—for example, “front-desk staff,” “beverage service” and “this can happen at large events”—and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “Even though some of the curry was too spicey” and the sentence explaining that you raised the issue with a staff member. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles and punctuation sometimes make the message difficult to follow. For example, “I am writing this letter to you concern about” lacks a grammatical construction, while “they did not taken seriously” has an incorrect verb form and an unclear object. The opening also joins separate ideas with a comma: “We were 80 people in this meeting, we choose your hotel.” Use complete sentences, check tense consistency, and practise forming clauses with “because,” “although” and “when” accurately.
