Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover the three requested points: you mention the hotel’s “view and well arrangements,” explain that the lunch was too traditional for participants who preferred Chinese food and barbecue, and recommend improving food quality and hiring or updating the chef team. However, the suggestions are brief and unclear, and the letter does not explain specific problems with the meal beyond its style. The response also contains 131 words, below the 150-word minimum; the 21 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop the feedback with concrete examples, such as the dishes or drinks participants expected, and make your recommendations more specific. A clearer purpose and fuller development are needed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The letter follows a recognisable order: it opens with the purpose, gives feedback about the hotel and lunch, and ends with a suggestion and polite closing. This gives the reader some overall organisation. However, nearly all the information is placed in one long paragraph, so the different points are difficult to follow. Connections between ideas are also weak: “Food was very typical and traditional, but they like…” and “Participants like your hotel view…” are joined without clear transitions. Separate the positive feedback, the food complaint, and your recommendations into paragraphs, and use simple linking phrases such as “However” and “To improve this” accurately. This would create clearer progression and reduce the impression of a list of loosely connected points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the situation, including “all-day meeting,” “participants,” “food quality,” and “meal service,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make parts of the letter difficult to interpret, such as “higher new update chefs,” “well arrengments,” and “positive change for you repotayion.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “inform you the feedback” and “barbeque style with salad.” Choose more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, you could refer to “the participants’ feedback,” “well-organised facilities,” and “a varied lunch menu.” These changes would make your meaning clearer and the tone more suitable for a formal letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes basic sentence forms and attempts to connect ideas, but grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make the message hard to follow. For example, “I am writing this letter to inform you the feedback” is missing a grammatical link, while “Recently i have organised an all-day meeting for your hotel participants of my company at the meeting said…” combines several ideas without a workable sentence structure. There are also inconsistent verb forms in “they liked” and “they like,” and punctuation is often missing, as in the opening sentence. Use shorter sentences, check that each has a clear subject and verb, and keep past-tense reporting consistent. Practising accurate complex sentences after securing basic sentence structure would improve control.
