Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three points: it says participants liked the hotel’s “ambiance” and sound system, explains that lunch was “cold and too spicy,” and recommends staff training and clearer instructions for the chefs. These details make the purpose clear and relevant. However, some parts are less fully developed than others. The positive feedback is brief, and the proposed improvements are not very specific: for example, you could explain how the hotel might check food temperature, offer milder options, or gather dietary preferences in advance. The complaint about “careless staff” would also be stronger if supported with a concrete example. A more complete explanation and practical suggestions would make the letter more effective.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: an opening purpose, positive comments, a complaint about lunch, and recommendations followed by a closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and transitions such as “Firstly,” “Shifting towards,” and “Lastly” guide the reader. This gives the response a coherent structure. To make the progression more natural and polished, use transitions that fit a formal letter and avoid relying on a list-like sequence. The final paragraph combines recommendations, praise (“rest is very good”), and hopes for the future, so separating or ordering these ideas more clearly would help. Some references, such as “these things,” are also broad; naming the food and service concerns would make the links between ideas clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “participants,” “quality,” “disappointed,” and “necessary steps.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “ambiance” and “sound system.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “good and bad things of your services,” “careless staff,” and “keep these things in your concerns” do not sound natural in this context. Spelling errors such as “sytem,” “wew,” “ver,” and “concers” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Aim for conventional, precise phrases for hotel feedback and check spelling carefully, especially in the closing and recommendations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to connect ideas using “because” and “that.” Meaning is generally understandable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur across the letter. For example, “services that you and your staff members are provided” has an incorrect structure, while “i and my team was” has a subject–verb agreement error. “I would like to inform that” also needs a different grammatical pattern, such as “inform you that.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and the run-on sequence “rest is ver good.” Practise accurate sentence patterns first, then add a wider mix of complex structures.
