Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
My name is Miral Ahir. I recently organised an all-day meeting in your hotel. I am writing this letter to give you some feedback of our participants at the meeiting about your hotel.
First of all, they were very satisfied with your staff because staff members were always ready for help and gave all kind of facilities. Also, architecture of your hotel impressed them a lot.
Moreover, my participant were unsatisfied with your food that was served for lunch. They said the food taste was quite good. Also, large amount of oil in the food and the roti was not soft. Also, they said the rice was very salty.
It would be advisable to you could improve the food because it is necessary for build your business. You could be talk with your staff about this thing then give them some advice about how to improve it. You could improve your food by mesuring the amount of what you use for making foods.
I hope you will look into the matter as soon as possible and serve good quality foods to your coutomers.
Yours faithfully,
Miral Ahir.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three required points and maintains a suitable purpose: you identify positive feedback about the staff and hotel architecture, explain complaints about oily food, hard roti and salty rice, and recommend discussing improvements with staff and measuring ingredients. These specific details make the response relevant and show the task is covered. However, the positive comments and proposed actions are not developed equally: for example, “gave all kind of facilities” is vague, and the suggestions could be more practical, such as checking recipes or asking guests about dietary preferences. The complaint that the food “taste was quite good” also conflicts with the stated dissatisfaction, so clarify whether the taste was acceptable but the preparation was not. A more precise, consistently developed account would strengthen the letter further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information is arranged in a generally clear sequence: you introduce the purpose, describe what guests liked, explain their food complaints, and then offer recommendations. Paragraphing supports this progression, and linking expressions such as “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “I hope” help signal the stages of the letter. Some cohesion is mechanical, however, particularly the repeated use of “Also” in the complaint paragraph. The reference in “this thing” is vague, and the sentence beginning “It would be advisable to you could” does not connect the recommendation smoothly. Use more varied links and make references explicit—for example, “To address these concerns, I recommend…”—so the relationships between ideas are clearer and less repetitive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “participants,” “architecture,” “unsatisfied,” and “improve.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision. Examples include “feedback of our participants” rather than “feedback from the participants,” “all kind of facilities,” and “good quality foods.” There are also spelling errors such as “meeiting,” “mesuring,” and “coutomers,” alongside awkward expressions such as “the food taste was quite good.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall message, but they make the letter less natural. Build accuracy by learning common collocations for feedback and catering, and proofread spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes mostly straightforward sentences and attempts some longer structures, such as “because staff members were always ready for help” and “because it is necessary for build your business.” The intended meaning is generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and verb patterns are noticeable. For example, “my participant were” should be “my participants were,” while “It would be advisable to you could improve” combines incompatible structures; use “I would advise you to improve…” instead. “It is necessary for build” also needs an infinitive pattern, such as “it is necessary to build.” Greater control of these patterns, along with more accurate sentence variety and punctuation, would make the writing smoother and more reliable.
