Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writting to provide a feedback about the meeting we recently organised in your hotel. overall, the participants were satisfied with all the hotel facilities, but they were disappointed with the lunch served during the meeting.
most of the participants liked the hotel's clean and comfortable environment. they also liked how the staff welcomed them and spacious meeting room with modern equipments. the best thing they praised about was it was very convenient to attend the meeting.
However, the lunch was disappointing due to several reasons. The food was cold and also not properly cooked. in menu, you had fewer options for vegetarian people. in addition, some people found poor quality of food.
I would suggest you to improve the quality of food by serving hot and fresh meals. the another thing is you also have to provide a wider range of food items related to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian people. Most importantly, please also make sure the meal is properly cooked before serving it to the person. This would help ensure that everyone enjoys their meal.
I hope you will consider this feedback and make improvements for future events.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three required points and maintains a clear, appropriate purpose. You identify what participants appreciated—“clean and comfortable” surroundings, welcoming staff, and a spacious, modern meeting room—and explain their dissatisfaction with cold, undercooked food, limited vegetarian choices, and perceived poor quality. Your recommendations directly respond to these concerns, especially serving hot, fresh meals and offering more options. This clear coverage and relevant support make the response effective. To develop it further, explain one point more specifically: for example, clarify what was wrong with the food’s quality or suggest how the hotel could gather dietary requirements before an event. The closing is polite, though a more standard formal sign-off would strengthen the letter’s overall appropriateness.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information is arranged in a clear progression: you introduce the feedback, describe what guests liked, explain the lunch problems, and then offer improvements. Paragraphing supports this structure, and linking expressions such as “However,” “in addition,” and “Most importantly” help signal relationships between ideas. The reader can follow the message without difficulty. Some connections are less smooth within sentences, however, as in “they also liked how the staff welcomed them and spacious meeting room,” where the ideas are joined unevenly. The repeated use of “also” and “the another thing” makes parts of the recommendations feel mechanical. Use parallel sentence structures and vary transitions to make the progression more natural and cohesive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including relevant terms such as “facilities,” “vegetarian,” “spacious,” and “fresh meals.” The meaning is generally clear, but the range and control are limited by noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation problems. Examples include “writting,” “equipments,” “in menu,” and “provide a wider range of food items related to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian people.” Some phrases are understandable but not idiomatic, such as “the best thing they praised about was it was very convenient.” Aim for more precise, natural expressions and check spelling and countability. For instance, “equipment” is uncountable, and “a wider choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes” expresses your recommendation more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple sentences and some attempts to combine ideas, such as “This would help ensure that everyone enjoys their meal.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence construction as well as longer patterns. In “they also liked how the staff welcomed them and spacious meeting room,” the second object needs a determiner and a clearer parallel structure. “I would suggest you to improve” uses an incorrect verb pattern; write “I would suggest improving” or “I would advise you to improve.” There are also errors in articles and sentence boundaries, including “provide a feedback” and lower-case sentence openings after full stops. Practise verb patterns, articles, and consistent capitalization to make your varied sentences more accurate.
