Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to provide a brief feedback, of your hotel, on an all-day meeting of Redstone company, which was held on 15th October. It was a wonderful day.
I would like to share the experinece at your hotel on the behalf of whole team. Everyone appreciated the seating arrangement of meeting room as well as the hospitality of your hotel staff. All staff members were too polite and professional. Surprisingly, praking area was more spacious than we expected.
However, one service that majority of people are dissatisfied with is the food served for lunch. Some dishes such as beans curry, mushrooms, and birayani were too high in spice level. Not all people have high spice tolerance and it made few of them uncomfortable. Although flavours wise Pasta was fine, it tasted undercooked. Rest of the starters and main course cuisines were delicious in taste.
I would like to suggest that you should pay more attention to the food quality and taste by testing it before serving. By doing this chefs can alter the flavours, if needed, and serve appropriate food for the guests.
I would really appreciate it if work on this constructive feedback.
Yours faithfully,
Simrat

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three required points and maintains an appropriate, polite purpose throughout. You identify what participants liked—the meeting-room seating, staff hospitality and spacious parking—and explain specific food concerns, including overly spicy dishes and undercooked pasta. You also offer a relevant improvement: having chefs test the food before serving so they can adjust it. These details make the feedback clear and supported. To strengthen the response further, develop the proposed action beyond testing, for example by recommending milder options or asking about dietary preferences in advance. The opening says the day was wonderful, but could more directly frame the letter as constructive feedback rather than briefly sounding wholly positive before the complaint.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information is organised in a clear sequence: purpose, positive comments, concerns about lunch, and a recommendation. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these stages, and transitions such as “However” and “Although” make the contrast between praise and criticism easy to follow. The examples within the food paragraph also progress logically from dishes that were too spicy to the pasta that was undercooked. Some linking and reference could be more precise: “one service” is a slightly unclear lead-in to a complaint about food, and “By doing this” refers broadly to testing the food. Use more direct links, such as “Regarding the lunch” and “This would allow the chefs…” to make the connections smoother and less dependent on general references.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a formal feedback letter, including “hospitality,” “spacious,” “spice level,” “undercooked,” and “constructive feedback.” These choices communicate the main points, and the food examples add useful specificity. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “provide a brief feedback,” “on the behalf of whole team,” “flavours wise,” and “delicious in taste.” There are also spelling errors in “experinece,” “praking,” and “birayani.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for standard collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, “share feedback on behalf of the team” and “the pasta was acceptable in flavour but undercooked” would sound more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “Although flavours wise Pasta was fine, it tasted undercooked” and the conditional recommendation beginning “By doing this.” Most of the message remains understandable, and the paragraphing supports the meaning. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In “I am writing to provide a brief feedback, of your hotel,” the article and punctuation are incorrect; write “some brief feedback about your hotel.” “On the behalf of whole team” needs article and preposition adjustments, while “it made few of them uncomfortable” needs “a few.” The final request, “I would really appreciate it if work on this constructive feedback,” is missing a subject and verb structure. More consistent proofreading of articles, sentence completeness and punctuation would improve accuracy.
