Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response makes an attempt to cover all three requested points: it mentions the hotel’s atmosphere and setting, says participants disliked the lunch, and offers a suggestion about improving food presentation and service. However, the details are difficult to identify and are not clearly tied to the task. For example, “good vibe” and “friend timespending together” may refer to what guests liked, but the specific positive features of the hotel are unclear. The reason for dissatisfaction is also not explained: “food don't like that” gives no concrete complaint about its quality, taste, or suitability. The suggestion to improve presentation and deliver food faster is relevant, but needs clearer explanation and a more direct, formal request to the manager.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is some basic organisation into paragraphs, and the response broadly moves from the hotel experience to the food and then to a proposed improvement. This gives the reader a rough sense of the intended structure. However, ideas within paragraphs are often difficult to follow, and connections between them are unclear. For instance, the second paragraph shifts from food to guests staying at the hotel, service, reading, and the atmosphere without showing how these points relate. Linking words such as “however” and “and” are used, but they do not consistently clarify the relationship between ideas. To improve, use one paragraph for each bullet point, begin with a clear topic sentence, and connect supporting details directly to that point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response attempts vocabulary related to the setting and service, including “hotel,” “participants,” “attention,” “dish,” and “delivered.” These choices show an effort to address the situation, but many words are misspelled, incorrectly formed, or used in combinations that make the intended meaning hard to understand, such as “the proived by to the everyday meeting” and “improve the food deceretion in dish.” Some wording is also too vague for a formal complaint, including “good vibe” and “food don't like that.” Use familiar, accurate expressions rather than attempting unclear phrases. More precise terms such as “comfortable meeting room,” “poor-quality lunch,” and “serve the meal promptly” would make the message clearer and more appropriate for a hotel manager.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The response attempts to form sentences and use contrast, as in “however they are unhappy about the food,” but grammatical control is very limited and errors frequently obscure the message. Verb forms and agreement are often inaccurate: “the food that are served” should be “the food that was served,” and “people stay for his hotal” does not form a clear grammatical sentence. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, with several ideas joined together by “and” or separated by full stops in ways that make the relationships unclear. Most sentences rely on basic patterns, and there is little evidence of controlled complex structures. Practise writing short, complete sentences first, checking subject–verb agreement and past-tense forms, then combine related ideas with accurate clauses.
