Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sir,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing this letter to inform you about the paticipant's feedback.

Firstly, I would like to share that partcipants were satisfied with all the arrangements. In their feedback, they shared that venue was perfect. Rooms were spacious and furnished. Friendly and and professional staff make guests feel welcome. They enjoyed several facilities such as swimming pool, gym, and polo club. They had a momorable experience while staying there.

However, they were upset about the food. Food was of substandard quality. In live kitchen, they noticed, staff is less concerned about hygeine. Chicken cuisines were undercooked. Furthermore, there was no option for vegetarian people and deserts were limited too. They were struggling to get proper food. They missed their breakfast due to early timings.

I would suggest you to add some vegetarian options to your meal so everyone can order what they want. Please ask cook to maintain all hygeine protocols. You should also work on quantity and quality of food.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three required points and maintains a clear, appropriate purpose. You identify what participants valued, including the spacious rooms, welcoming staff and hotel facilities, then explain their concerns with the lunch through undercooked chicken, hygiene worries and limited vegetarian choices and desserts. Your recommendations—adding vegetarian options, maintaining hygiene and improving food quantity and quality—are relevant and actionable. This coverage and the supporting details make the response effective. To strengthen it further, make the feedback more precise: the task concerns lunch, but “They missed their breakfast due to early timings” introduces an unclear issue that seems unrelated. Clarifying this point, and explaining more specifically what was wrong with the lunch service, would make the ideas more consistently developed and focused on the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression: an opening purpose, positive feedback, complaints, and recommendations, followed by a polite closing. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these stages, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “However,” and “Furthermore” make the sequence easy to follow. The ideas within the complaint paragraph also build from food quality to hygiene and choice. To make the organisation more polished, avoid relying on a list-like sequence of short statements and connect related details more naturally. For example, the point about missing breakfast interrupts the discussion of lunch and weakens the paragraph’s focus. The transition from the complaints to the suggestions could also explicitly link each recommendation to a concern, such as vegetarian choices or food safety.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of relevant vocabulary for a formal complaint, including “spacious,” “professional,” “substandard quality,” “undercooked,” and “vegetarian options.” These choices communicate the main points, and the tone is generally suitable for writing to a hotel manager. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “paticipant's,” “partcipants,” “momorable,” “hygeine,” and “deserts” where “desserts” is intended. Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “polo club” may not describe the facility intended, and “add some vegetarian options to your meal” sounds as though the manager is ordering a meal. Check spelling carefully and choose collocations that fit the context, such as “offer vegetarian dishes on the menu.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response includes both simple sentences and some attempts at more developed structures, such as “In their feedback, they shared that venue was perfect” and “They enjoyed several facilities such as…” The message remains understandable, but grammatical control is inconsistent. Examples include the missing article in “that venue was perfect,” the agreement error in “staff make guests feel welcome,” and the faulty construction “I would suggest you to add.” The phrase “Friendly and and professional staff” also contains a repeated conjunction, while “In live kitchen, they noticed, staff is less concerned” has unclear punctuation and sentence structure. Practise accurate article use, subject–verb agreement, and verb patterns after “suggest”; then proofread for sentence boundaries and repeated words. More reliable control of these forms would make the letter smoother.
