Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

I am writing to express my experience on the behalf of my company about your hotel.

I organized an all day meeting of my company in your hotel, two days ago. Most of the participants like the cleanliness and proper hygience of your hotel and that is really impressive. Moreover, participants are more focused in the meeting because of noise-free location.

However, there are few demerits too. The main thing is that participants are not happy with food service that was served to them during lunch time. Most of them are vegeterian and there are very limited options for them. That is the reason they are hungry in the whole meeting.

I suggest that for the future meeting, you provide more options for vegeterian and gluten-free individuals so that they can enjoy their meal too. Also, provide water bottles at each table of the contestants.

Kind Rewards,

Taran

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three bullet points: you mention cleanliness and the hotel’s quiet location, explain that vegetarian guests had few lunch choices, and suggest adding vegetarian and gluten-free options. The reason for dissatisfaction is clear, and the suggestion to provide water at each table adds a practical detail. However, some points are only briefly developed: explain more specifically what was wrong with the food or how the limited choice affected the meeting, and make the requested improvements more directly relevant to lunch. The response is also 8 words below the required minimum, so it needs a little more detail. The sign-off, “Kind Rewards,” is not an appropriate formal closing and should be replaced with “Yours faithfully.”

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall sequence: it introduces the meeting, describes what participants appreciated, explains their complaint, and offers suggestions. Paragraphing helps distinguish the positive feedback from the problem and proposed solutions. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “That is the reason” make the relationships between ideas understandable. At times, though, the connections feel mechanical, and the final suggestion about water bottles is added without explaining how it addresses the lunch complaint. Improve progression by grouping the food-related concerns and recommendations together, and use clearer transitions to show how each suggestion responds to a specific problem. A conventional formal closing would also make the letter feel more complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “cleanliness,” “noise-free location,” “participants,” and “vegetarian and gluten-free.” Some choices are imprecise or unnatural, however, and this limits the range and control shown. For example, “express my experience on the behalf” is an awkward way to introduce feedback, while “proper hygience” contains a spelling error and does not express the idea naturally. “Demerits” is also an unsuitable choice for a formal complaint, and “contestants” does not fit people attending a company meeting. Check spelling and choose collocations that suit a professional letter. More precise wording would make your message sound clearer and more appropriately formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, such as “Most of them are vegeterian and there are very limited options for them,” so the message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors and punctuation problems persist. For example, “I organized an all day meeting of my company in your hotel, two days ago” needs clearer article and preposition choices, as well as spaces after punctuation. The past event is also described inconsistently with present forms such as “participants like” and “are not happy”; use past tense consistently when reporting feedback about the meeting. Review sentence boundaries and articles, and practise combining clauses accurately. These corrections would improve control without changing the letter’s clear basic meaning.
