Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to express my colleagues' feedback for the meeting that was organised at your hotel for whole day.
The professionals invited in the meeting were all love the atmosphere of your hotel. They even said the structure of the building, and whole arrangements for the meeting were amazing. Apart from some experiences, they were highly satisfied with this gethering.
Although they were happy with he occasion, they did not like the food arrangements. According to my colleagues, the items in the dinner were all oily and they served cold. Some of the vegetables were not even fresh. They haven't hade the dinner, because they find it unhealthy. I think you should focus in this area.
I suggest you should utilize the containers, which keeps the food warm even when it served to people. As the public is health conscious, You should enhance your food quality, and try to keep it healthy and fresh.
I hope you would pay attention towards my feedback, and improve your hospitality. Thank you for your time.
Best wishes,
Yara Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points and maintain an appropriate purpose: you praise the hotel, report dissatisfaction with lunch, and recommend keeping food warm and improving its quality. Details such as the building’s atmosphere and meeting arrangements make the positive feedback relevant, while the complaints about oily, cold food and vegetables that were not fresh explain the problem. However, some points are unclear or not fully developed. The task concerns lunch, but you refer to “dinner,” and “Apart from some experiences” does not explain what this means. Your suggestions are relevant but could be more specific—for example, recommending fresher ingredients, suitable menu choices, or a system for serving food promptly would make the proposed improvements more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, positive comments, complaints, suggestions, and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the shift from praise to criticism, and connectors such as “Although” and “I suggest” signal relationships between ideas. This gives the response a coherent progression. Some linking and referencing are less controlled, however. “Apart from some experiences” is unclear and interrupts the positive paragraph, while “they” in “they served cold” could refer either to the food or the hotel staff. The transition from the complaint to “I think you should focus in this area” is also somewhat repetitive before the more specific recommendation. Use precise references and make each paragraph’s ideas connect more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of vocabulary relevant to a formal hotel complaint, including “atmosphere,” “arrangements,” “health conscious,” and “food quality.” These choices communicate the main points, and the tone is generally suitable for a letter to a manager. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “express my colleagues’ feedback” is less natural than “convey my colleagues’ feedback,” and “the items in the dinner” does not clearly describe the lunch menu. There are also spelling errors such as “gethering” and “hade,” and phrases such as “improve your hospitality” are broad rather than specific to the food issue. Aim for accurate collocations and proofread spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast introduced by “Although” and the relative clause in “containers, which keeps the food warm.” The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “were all love” should be “all loved,” and “containers, which keeps” has a plural subject that requires “keep.” In “they served cold,” the sentence needs a clearer grammatical subject, such as “the food was served cold.” There are also tense and form problems in “They haven't hade the dinner” and “they find it unhealthy.” Review past-tense consistency and subject–verb agreement, and check sentence boundaries and capitalization, including the capitalized “You” mid-sentence.
