Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. While the essay identifies reasons for the lack of exercise (demanding jobs) and proposes a solution (workplace gym activities), these points are not sufficiently extended or supported with detailed examples. The response stops abruptly, failing to provide a complete argument or a conclusion. Because the task is not fully addressed due to the length, it falls into the lower band range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay attempts to use paragraphing and transition words like 'Firstly' and 'However', which provides a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. The cohesive devices are somewhat mechanical, and the lack of a concluding paragraph makes the overall organization feel unfinished. The flow is hindered by the abrupt ending, making it difficult to assess the logical development of the argument beyond the initial paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected for higher bands. Phrases like 'minimal workout' and 'active service' are slightly unnatural in this context. There is a reliance on simple, repetitive language. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to health, employment, and lifestyle to demonstrate a more flexible control of language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'do not give them time' (subject-verb agreement with 'job') and 'every establishments' (pluralization error). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation indicate a limited control over complex structures. The sentence construction is functional but lacks the accuracy and variety required for a higher band.
