Student answer (Band 7.0)

Many working professionals are facing serious health concerns these days as they find it difficult to involve themselves in any physical exercise. The possible reason behind this could be tiredness and the extended working hours. However the problem can be mitigated through the collective efforts of the government and the individuals by increasing the awareness about the importance of physical activities for one's life in the long run.

The first and the foremost reason is the tiredness that comes with such jobs. Individuals spend major part of their day in front of laptop screens which exhausts them mentally. The work load after the working hours could be the another reason of this problem. Certain jobs demand the availability of the employees throughout the day. As a result in their free time they prefer to rest rather than incorporating in any physical sport.

The issue can be resolved by informing people about the benefits of staying fit. The government may conduct free campaigns where people will learn about basic exercises and healthy eating habits. The office authorities may organize a mandatory sport activity once in a week for their employees. For instance, Some highly reputed tech companies in India organize compulsory sports days every week for their workers in order to keep them fit.

To conclude, the tiring nature of the corporate jobs and the extended shifts does not allow the individuals to get indulge in exercises. However, with the right efforts of the government and the office's higher authorities the problem can be solved by teaching the youngsters about the essentials of keeping themselves healthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as mental exhaustion from screen time and the role of corporate initiatives. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the suggestion for government campaigns is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of how it would practically overcome the barrier of 'tiredness.' The conclusion introduces a new focus on 'youngsters,' which slightly shifts the scope from the 'working people' mentioned in the prompt. To reach a higher band, ensure that each solution is directly linked to the specific problems identified in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the reasons from the solutions. Cohesive devices such as 'The first and the foremost reason,' 'As a result,' and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of laptop screens and the workload could be more fluid. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the central topic of each paragraph is maintained throughout.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. You use some appropriate collocations like 'mitigated through the collective efforts,' 'extended working hours,' and 'highly reputed tech companies.' There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'incorporating in any physical sport' (should be 'participating in') and 'get indulge in' (should be 'get involved in'). While the range is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the variety and precision of less common lexical items that would characterize a higher band. Focusing on more precise verbs and avoiding repetitive phrasing would enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the another reason of this problem' (should be 'another reason for this problem') and 'does not allow the individuals to get indulge' (should be 'to get involved'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors, such as 'the government' (often used without 'the' in general contexts) and 'Some highly reputed' (capitalization error). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy in verb forms would be beneficial.
