Student answer (Band 6.5)
Exercising regularly is beneficial in ensuring good health and physical fitness, however, lots of workers exercise too little or not at all during the week or off work periods, causing health challenges for them. In this essay, we will highlight why this trend is common and the possible solutions to lighten this.
Most workers just do not have time enough to spare for physical activities as their schedule during work hours. For instance, Recent research by students from the Lagos state university on the daily routine of an average employed resident in the state shows that they spend, on average, seven hours to and from their workplace to their home. Add this to the eight hours at work and time needed for domestic chores, it becomes obvious why they indulge very little in workouts. To further illustrate, an average worker in Lagos state leaves the office by 4:00am to arrive at work just before 8am and leaves the office by 4:00pm to arrive home by 10:00pm
Secondly, some workers do not see the importance of exercising thus they are reluctant to dedicate their time to it. For example, The research by students from Lagos state university also shows that residents are still able to create time to relax at bars, beaches and clubs despite the tightness of their schedules.
Furthermore, To solve this problem, workers should be educated and constantly reminded of the benefits of regular exercise. The government can make policies geared at motivating and compelling citizens to participate in physical training.
In conclusion, the health benefits of frequent physical training are enormous and workers should be motivated to participate more.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, particularly the focus on commuting time and lack of motivation. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The second reason (lack of importance) is less developed than the first, and the solutions provided in the final paragraph are quite brief and lack specific detail or explanation. To reach a higher band, you should expand on how government policies would work or provide more concrete examples of how workers can be educated. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis could be improved to better support the arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'For instance', 'To further illustrate', 'Secondly', and 'Furthermore' to signal transitions between ideas. While the progression is generally clear, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid, rather than relying on a standard list of transition words at the start of every paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'physical activities', 'domestic chores', and 'tightness of their schedules'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'lighten this' (which is not the most natural collocation for solving a problem) and 'off work periods'. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your ideas clearly, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'have time enough to spare' (should be 'enough time to spare') and 'make policies geared at' (should be 'geared towards'). Additionally, there are some punctuation errors, such as unnecessary capitalization after colons or commas. While these errors are present, they do not impede communication. To achieve a higher score, focus on improving your control over complex sentence structures and ensuring consistent subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage.
