Student answer (Band 7.5)
Many people are experiencing health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease by making little or no effort to exercise either during the working day or in their free time. It could be because of several reasons; however, with proper planning and a rescheduling routine, this problem can be solved.
To begin with, people often argue that they are unable to get sufficient exercise because of the workload. Some professionals are required to work even after the company's official hours, especially IT workers. As a result, they feel tired, which discourages them from starting exercise. For example, after completing 10 hours of work, people tend to prefer to sleep rather than doing any physical activity. Moreover, technology has played a noteworthy role in discouraging people; many people have made it a habit to scroll on Instagram and watch YouTube videos in their free time rather than working out in a gym to build muscles, which results in health-related problems, such as obesity and other heart-related problems.
To resolve this issue, people should make proper plans for their diet and spare extra time focusing on their health. For example, working professionals can spend 2-3 hours doing exercise at the gym or at home each day, before their dinner at night or in the morning and reschedule their routine. In addition, governments can also encourage the youth by introducing new subsidies for gym membership or free access to the public gardens, where local people can go for morning walks, cycling or yoga. These actions can definitely help young people focus more on their health.
In conclusion, heavy workloads and excessive use of technology are the main reasons why people fail to exercise regularly. However, this issue can be addressed if individuals manage their time effectively and make exercise part of their daily routine, while governments can encourage physical activity by providing affordable and accessible recreational facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. The position is consistent throughout the essay. While the development is generally good, the suggestion that professionals spend '2-3 hours' exercising daily is somewhat unrealistic for a working person, which slightly weakens the practical depth of the argument. However, the response covers all requirements of the task well, providing clear examples such as the impact of IT workloads and the role of government subsidies. The structure is logical and the response is well-balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used effectively to link ideas, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In addition'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a central theme. The progression of ideas is smooth, moving from the causes of the problem to potential solutions. There is a clear sense of flow throughout the text, and referencing is accurate. The use of transition signals is natural and contributes to the overall readability of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.5
The range of vocabulary is sufficient for the task. The student uses topic-specific terms such as 'cardiovascular disease', 'recreational facilities', and 'subsidies' appropriately. There are some minor collocations that could be improved, such as 'making little or no effort to exercise' (which is acceptable but could be more idiomatic) and 'rescheduling routine'. The vocabulary is generally precise and allows for clear communication of ideas. There are no significant spelling errors, and the word choice is consistent with the formal tone required for an IELTS essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The essay demonstrates a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are error-free, and the grammar is generally accurate. There are occasional minor slips, such as 'It could be because of several reasons' (which is slightly vague) and 'rather than doing any physical activity' (where 'rather than do' might be more concise). However, these errors do not impede communication. The punctuation is handled well, and the control over complex structures, such as conditional and causative sentences, is evident throughout the response.
