Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the explanation regarding technology is brief and lacks depth, and the second reason regarding video games is somewhat repetitive. The examples provided, such as the 'survey of 2007', are vague and lack specific detail to fully support the argument. While the response covers all parts of the task, the ideas are under-developed, and the overall position could be more clearly articulated throughout the essay to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'In this statement' is used incorrectly at the beginning, and phrases like 'more others' and 'near and dear once' disrupt the flow. While there is a logical progression from reasons to solutions, the connections between sentences are sometimes weak, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, which affects the overall coherence of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'near and dear once' (instead of 'ones'), 'health relation exercise', and 'for feel relax'. The range is limited, and the student relies on basic terminology. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication, such as 'the numbers of people can not do exercise', 'they can not taking', and 'many expertise examined'. Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction and verb tense usage prevents the essay from achieving a higher score in this category.
