Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for inactivity and suggesting solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation of why people are busy is somewhat vague, and the solutions provided (apps and gym memberships) are not fully explored or linked to the root causes. The essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a complete conclusion. While the main points are relevant, the lack of depth and the incomplete final paragraph mean the response does not fully satisfy the requirements for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or misused, such as 'but, however' in the opening sentence or 'for illustrate' instead of 'for illustration'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with the use of 'those' to refer to people or situations. The progression of ideas is not always logical, making the text feel somewhat fragmented.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'closed scheduled' instead of 'tight schedule' and 'far away from their health issues' instead of 'avoid health issues'. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'diabetes', 'cancer', 'membership'), but the overall range is insufficient to express ideas with precision. Some phrasing is non-idiomatic, which occasionally hinders the clarity of the message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Majority people are busy', 'those people who is not exercised'), tense usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the incomplete final sentence demonstrates a lack of control over sentence completion.
