Student answer (Band 5.5)
Why do many working people get little or no exercise during their working or free time and most times they develop health issues ?
These days and in this generation a lot of working individuals do not get to exercise and its affects their health too this is due to because of some factors.
Most works now are usually start from 8am and ends by 5pm works for example civil workers , teachers, bankers. These workers due wake up very early in the morning to prepare for work and still have to come in early for work before their working hours starts and they still eventually stay in work for long hours very busy with a lot of activities to complete. most times they still also finish very late from work and the same cycle keeps repeating everyday. This working experience will give little or no time for any form of exercise and this lifestyle could lead to health problems like hypertension, diabetes. And one of the non - pharmacological management of these two health problems are moderate exercises.
To improve these problems, personally individuals should try to create a time schedule for themselves to wake up on time and give at least 30mins of a daily exercise routine before going for work and during the weekends they can give more time for their exercise this is a personal solution the individual can do for themselves . Then in their work places the company or the places can build in a gym and give access to their members for free where he pr she can come and exercise during their free time which can help lot. for example in a private company i went to during the tour they showed me the gym they built for their staffs for the sake of them coming to work out cause they understand that health is important.
These are the problems that workers do face but with this solutions i believe the health of the workers would improve well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as long working hours and the suggestion of workplace gyms. However, the development is somewhat limited. The explanation of why people do not exercise is repetitive, and the solutions could be more thoroughly explored with more nuanced arguments. While the position is clear, the overall depth of the response is closer to a Band 5 or 6 level, as some points are stated rather than fully extended or supported with sophisticated reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. For example, the frequent use of 'and' to connect clauses and the somewhat abrupt transitions between sentences hinder the flow. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'these two health problems', which refers back to a list that could have been more smoothly integrated. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively used to separate the two distinct parts of the prompt more clearly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. The student uses basic terms like 'works' (instead of 'jobs' or 'employment') and 'give a time' (instead of 'allocate time'). There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'build in a gym' instead of 'install a gym' or 'provide a gym'. While the meaning is clear, the lack of variety and the reliance on simple, repetitive phrasing limits the score. More precise collocations would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Most works now are usually start'), incorrect verb forms ('its affects'), and punctuation errors, such as missing commas and incorrect spacing around hyphens. While the meaning remains understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The student should focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency.
