Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era, people are living a sedentary lifestyle. Their life usually revolves around work. Also, some people are working or relying on more than one jobs to make both ends meets in this society where prices of goods and services are keep getting inflated. Working tirelessly can cause health issues which will keep getting worse if they are not treated well.

According to me, most of the people skips exercise not because they do not want to do it but because they think that they do not have enough time to do that. People work five days a week from 9:00 am to 5:00pm according to their company’s timetable. After working for hours people wants to rest, they used there rest of the time sleeping or doing other recreational activities which gives them peace and comfort. Also, doing exercises, staying healthy it depends on personal perspectives. As if a person want to stay healthy he or she can stay fit and do a timely job and other kind of work.

For example, if we talk about actors and singers they do work not in the timeframe of a day but they do exercise to stay fit and focused while working because they have to make their appearances in front of public often.

This problem can be solved by using several methods, one from them is to add an exercise day activity in the week of workers, so they try more to do it. Companies should provide free membership of gyms to their workers as one of the benefits. They need to some seminars regarding health and wellness to help people with their own personal needs and to aware them about health issues they will get if they do not do proper exercises.

To sum it up, i can say it is significant to do exercises on daily basis to increase your productivity. But it depends on a person’s perspective if they want to do it or not in their free time as we cannot force anybody.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of long working hours and the suggestion of gym memberships. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The explanation regarding why people do not exercise is clear, but the solutions section is a bit brief and could benefit from more detailed elaboration. The position is consistent, though the conclusion is slightly contradictory by suggesting that exercise is significant while also stating it is entirely a matter of personal perspective, which weakens the overall argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more specific examples or logical consequences.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a general progression of ideas from the problem to the solutions. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'one from them is to add' or 'As if a person want to stay healthy'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. The transition between the introduction and body paragraphs is functional, but the essay would benefit from a more sophisticated range of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'sedentary lifestyle' and 'recreational activities'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'prices of goods and services are keep getting inflated' and 'make both ends meets'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word form, such as 'aware them' instead of 'make them aware'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score as the range is not yet flexible or precise enough for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of the people skips', 'people wants to rest') and verb tense consistency. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that affect the flow. While the meaning is always clear, the high frequency of these small errors prevents the essay from reaching the 7.0 band. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic agreement errors and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy.
