Student answer (Band 6.0)
Task 2.
There is an ongoing debate on working individuals getting less or no time for physical activities even during their leisure time owing to health problems in future. This essay will discuss the reasons and steps to tackle this problem in the subsequent paragraphs leading to a logical conclusion.
To commence with the most prominent cause for this is overtime or long working hours. To explain this, every working individual tends to earn more for their better lifestyle resulted in working overtime. For example, in many organisations workers get double pay for working extra hours. This motivates them to work more. As a result, employees get little or no time for their physical activities. Another reason is advancement of technology. For instance, workers are given extra work which can be done from comfort of their homes. Workers try to do the work assigned to them as early as possible to get extra benefits. This results in no exercise time even during their leisure hours.
To tackle with this problem, there are various measures. Firstly, the organisations must set a limit for the overtime done by
the employees. There must be fixed overtime working hours for every individual. This will result in extra time left for exercise or physical activities. Moreover, with fixed overtime working hours, there will be no race among employees to perform better. Secondly, office works should be restricted to office premises only. No work must be assigned after office hours. As a result, workers will have more leisure time for themselves and their family.
To conclude this, Working more can be beneficial for one's financial stability but it should not be done at the risk of one's health. There should be a work life balance. Employees must space a little time for their physical activities. However, with little changes in lifestyle one can have a better professional and personal life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as long working hours and the impact of technology, and the proposed solutions are logical. However, the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion on overtime in the first body paragraph is very similar to the point about technology, and the solutions in the second body paragraph mirror the causes. To reach a higher band, you should provide more varied examples or explore the psychological aspects of sedentary work to add depth. The position is clear throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'For instance', and 'Moreover' to link sentences. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. For example, the phrase 'As a result' is used three times, which makes the flow feel a bit predictable. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more nuanced would enhance the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'financial stability', 'leisure hours', and 'work-life balance'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural collocations, such as 'space a little time' instead of 'set aside time' or 'allocate time'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and idiomatic expressions related to the workplace and health. The current vocabulary is functional but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is consistently clear, there are recurring grammatical errors. For example, 'resulted in working overtime' should be 'resulting from working overtime', and 'To tackle with this problem' is incorrect; it should simply be 'To tackle this problem'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and refining the use of prepositions would significantly improve your accuracy.
