Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For instance, the reasons provided (busy schedules, social media, long working hours) are mentioned but not fully explored or supported with specific examples or logical depth. The solutions suggested, such as morning walks and flexible working hours, are relevant but remain somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points by explaining the 'how' and 'why' in more detail, ensuring that each paragraph provides a comprehensive argument rather than a list of brief observations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. There is a lack of effective cohesive devices; sentences are frequently short and choppy, and transitions between ideas are missing or repetitive (e.g., 'In the other hand', 'In conclude'). The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the flow of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your sentences and paragraphs more fluidly, ensuring that your ideas build logically upon one another.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'bad affect on individuals health' (should be 'negative effect') and 'higher a personal trainer' (should be 'hire'). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on simple terms like 'bad', 'go', and 'work'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling and collocation errors restrict the score. You should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to health, lifestyle, and workplace dynamics to demonstrate a wider range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, primarily relying on simple sentences. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'social media use are comman'), article usage, and word forms (e.g., 'continuesly working'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence boundaries. While these errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, you should practice using more complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, and pay closer attention to basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading.
