Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some working people do very little or no exercise during the working day or in their leisure time which results in significant health issues. There are ample of reasons such as hard to maintain work life balance and tiredness that are explained in further paragraphs along with possible solutions.

The major reason for not getting enough exercise is that people are working for long hours consequently they get tired due to which even though they have enough time for exercise, but they prefer to rest to get rid of tiredness. Further they have many other responsibilities after work such as taking care of their child, doing household chores they get busy in these things thus gets very less time for themselves. Lastly, the internet and social media have great influence and many of us are addicted to it thus they enjoy sitting idle and watching reels on Instagram thus waste their time.

The only solution for this situation is maintaining work life balance so that they get enough time for exercise. Further individuals should be aware of health issues that can be caused by lack of exercise, and they should be strict toward themselves for doing exercises whether it's just for 15 mins in a day only then they feel relaxed. For instance, many working professionals nowadays are doing work on laptop or PC as a result they are just sitting, and all the stress is on neck muscles and eyes thus get relief from that it's necessary to stretch their body time to time otherwise there will be diseased like migraine and cervical.

To conclude, we can say that working people should try to maintain work life balance and should stop using smart phones in their free time and do exercises that help them to reduce stress and they will be safe from many health issues that they are facing due to lack of exercise.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as long working hours, household responsibilities, and the distraction of social media. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For instance, the suggestion to 'be strict toward themselves' is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations or concrete examples of how these solutions could be implemented in a workplace or societal context. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis could be improved to fully satisfy the requirements of a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for reasons and solutions, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive (e.g., 'Further', 'Lastly', 'To conclude'). Additionally, some sentences are linked awkwardly, such as 'consequently they get tired due to which even though they have enough time for exercise, but they prefer to rest'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow and coherence of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'working professionals', 'household chores', and 'work-life balance'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'ample of reasons' (should be 'ample reasons' or 'a number of reasons') and 'diseased like migraine' (should be 'diseases like migraines'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler phrasing. Incorporating more precise, academic vocabulary would help elevate the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include run-on sentences and punctuation issues, such as '...doing household chores they get busy in these things thus gets very less time for themselves'. There are also errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'doing work on laptop'). To improve, focus on sentence boundary control and ensuring that complex structures are punctuated correctly. The current level of accuracy is sufficient for a band 6, but more consistent control is needed for higher bands.
