Student answer (Band 5.0)

Exercise is the crucial part of our lives that makes us healthy but many workers cannot exercise daily due to their busy schedule that’s why they are facing health problems. I strongly agree with that point of view people have less time to focus on their health because they are tied due to working pressure therefore they can’t give time to exercise.

Firstly, The main reason workers are busy in their daily routine tasks. when they are working 8 to 10 hours especially in developing countries so you they are tired after that and they are not able to take part in physical activities. For example in Pakistan many organisations working timing is more than 8 hours. And the second reason busy routine can also a big problem for employees because due to busy routine and hard work they prefer rest rather-then exercise.

Secondly, Companies give free time to employees during their working timing so they focus on their health and in morning people doing exercise like daily walk before go to office. Companies also provide the healthy diet in their lunch so it makes worker healthy. For example I work in Advertising agency and it provides gym to their workers in lunch break everybody must give time to their health.

In conclusion, due to hard work routine and long job timing stuff gives time to their fitness so factories give opportunities to workers like a gym, proper diet so they focus on their health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for inactivity and suggesting solutions. However, the development is limited. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, and the word count is below the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the depth of the response. While the position is clear, the arguments lack sufficient elaboration and specific examples are brief. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the minimum length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the issues raised.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and limited use of cohesive devices. While transition words like 'Firstly' and 'In conclusion' are present, the internal flow within paragraphs is often disjointed. For example, the transition between the discussion of working hours and the suggestion of company-provided gyms is abrupt. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'busy routine' and 'working timing' are used multiple times, which limits the lexical range. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'stuff gives time to their fitness' and 'working timing'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common items and more precise collocations related to the workplace and health, while avoiding the repetition of simple phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'when they are working 8 to 10 hours... so you they are tired'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas that affect readability. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are frequent areas of error. To improve, focus on mastering the use of complex sentence structures and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly regarding verb tenses and sentence boundaries.
