Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 192 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both parts of the prompt—reasons for inactivity and potential solutions—the ideas are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting detail or examples. For instance, you mention 'lack of time' and 'workload' as reasons, but these points are not expanded upon with depth. To improve, you must elaborate on your arguments and provide more comprehensive explanations to ensure the task is fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical, and the connection between sentences is occasionally weak. For example, the transition between the reasons for inactivity and the proposed solutions is abrupt. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph flows logically into the next, rather than relying on simple, repetitive connectors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'problem', 'work', and 'provide'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'target achievement is a very difficult problem' and 'individuals are became more tired'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly unclear. To improve, you should aim to use a broader range of vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'sedentary lifestyle', 'work-life balance', or 'mitigate', and pay closer attention to the correct form of words in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences. You make frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement ('health problem is', 'individuals are became'), article usage, and sentence construction ('companies can change this problem through provide'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally impede the flow of the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and ensuring consistent verb tense usage. Incorporating more complex sentence forms, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
