Student answer (Band 6.0)

Healthy lifestyle play a significant role in our day to day life. However, many people spend less or no time for exercise in daily routine which significantly increases their health problems. Although, hectic working hours and competition would considered as the main reasons for this incident.

One of the main reason for not taking care of health is the long hours for office work. After this hectic schedule, human body completely exhausted which leave no time for them to save for excercise. Furthermore, in the cooperate life, increasing competition amongst the employees forces them to stay longer in the office to keep their job secure. For instance, in this lay-off period in India, creating a tension between individuals to work harder and more, to achieve the impossible target which results in fatigue and many health problems.

Every problem has a solution, similarly in this scenario. If the strict policies can be implemented on the employees regarding the office opening and closing hours forces them to organise their work in the morning itself, results as increase in productivity. This lead them to leave office within the scheduled time. In contrast they can utilise this time on their health such as doing yoga and excercise. Offices must provide infrastructure which helps to maintain their health. For example, some countries changes the office chairs into the bicycle design which allows them to paddle and increase blood circulation.

However, straight forward policies before terminating any individual helps them to plan their future accordingly and helps them to stay away from stress and tension.

In my opinion, working in the office is just the part of our life. We must not forget to take care of our body and mental health. Keeping everything organised to work proactively and staying away from the toxic environment helps to save themselves from so many problems. Individual must create boundaries and leave the office on time which allows them to excercise daily.

To conclude, following precaution must be taken by the company and for ye employees to create a good balance between health and professional life

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as long working hours and competitive office environments, and the solutions provided, like office infrastructure changes and stricter scheduling, are practical. However, the development is somewhat uneven. For instance, the point about 'lay-off periods in India' is a bit specific and could be better integrated into a broader argument about workplace stress. While the position is clear throughout, the essay would benefit from more nuanced exploration of the psychological barriers to exercise, rather than focusing primarily on time constraints.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the problem to the solution and finally to a personal opinion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'In contrast', and 'To conclude', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the central topic of each paragraph is generally easy to follow. However, some referencing is slightly unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother to achieve a more natural, sophisticated cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'infrastructure', 'productivity', and 'toxic environment'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'human body completely exhausted' (missing 'is') and 'creating a tension' instead of 'creating tension'. Spelling errors like 'cooperate' (intended 'corporate') and 'excercise' (repeated misspelling) also detract from the overall quality. A wider range of precise collocations would help elevate the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Healthy lifestyle play', 'some countries changes') and missing articles or auxiliary verbs ('human body completely exhausted'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence construction, such as the fragment 'Although, hectic working hours...'. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
