It has been universally accepted that problems caused by lack of exercise are escalating at an alarming rate. The problem is bringing a state of depression and many serious diseases among the masses. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as long working hours and lack of motivation, and the solutions provided, like government regulation and awareness campaigns, are logical. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the suggestion to 'limit working hours' is a good idea but lacks specific detail on how this would realistically be implemented or how it would directly lead to more exercise. The response covers all requirements but remains at a general level of discussion, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In regards to the problem', 'Another problematic cause', and 'To conclude'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the phrase 'Seeing the problem with a brighter mind'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall flow is somewhat disjointed due to the repetitive nature of the linking phrases.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'escalating', 'alarming rate', and 'menace'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'Government to strictly made companies follow those rule' (should be 'Government should strictly make companies follow those rules') and 'encourage people to exercise at high level'. These errors do not impede communication but demonstrate a limited range and control over more sophisticated lexical items.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms, articles, and sentence fragments. For example, 'If exercise is not a part of individual's daily routine. Then, they are more likely to ignore or postponing it' contains a sentence fragment and an incorrect verb form. Other errors include 'One if the solution' and 'Government to strictly made'. These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, though they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended message.
