Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as long working hours and the role of organizational intervention. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'insufficient awareness' is mentioned but not deeply explored with specific examples or logical consequences. The response is quite brief, and while it covers the requirements, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The position is clear, but the overall depth of analysis remains at a functional level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas from the problem to the solution. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Additionally', and 'To sum up', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, although the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the essay follows a standard structure that makes the writer's intent easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'work', 'exercise', and 'health'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'productivity', 'seminars', 'motivation'), the range is limited. There are minor errors in word choice, such as 'health issue' instead of 'health issues' and 'work more effective' instead of 'work more effectively'. To improve, the student should focus on using a wider range of synonyms and more precise collocations to express ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('your body get tired', 'this is indirectly benefit') and missing articles ('Organization should', 'the one who are not'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are inconsistent capitalizations (e.g., 'Organization' at the start of a paragraph). The control over complex structures is inconsistent, and the frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
