Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people lead hectic life. They do not have time to do exercise either during working day or in their free time. Consequently, they suffer from health issues. This easy will discuss the reasons behind this occurrence and suggest some solutions to tackle this problem.

To commence with, there are plenty of reasons behind not getting enough time for workout. Firstly, in this modern era, everyone wants to live a luxury life due to the fat that they prefer to work whole week so that they can earn money and spend on luxury things. This is the main reason for not having a spare time for exercise. For instance, some people own luxury house and for its mortgage they have to work hard. Furthermore, whenever they have free time, they would like to spend it with their family members or friends instead of utilising it on workouts or any yoga classes.

There are plenty of solutions to mitigate this problem. Firstly, balance is really important to live a happy life. Along with working, masses should spend some time on exercise too. In this advanced era, authorities have opened gym and yoga classes in almost every city. So, if people are not able to do exercise at home they can join the nearby gym or yoga club. For illustration, in my personal experience, one of my friends started going gym after facing thyroid and obesity issues. To add to it, if it is difficult for folks to have some time for workout then atleast they should go for a walk daily to keep themselves healthy. In their spare time, they ought to plan some physical challenging activities with their friends.

In conclusion, although there are many reasons for not doing exercise, by taking some small steps this issue can be resolved. They will not only protect individuals from health problems but also keep them energetic throughout the day.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the pressure to work long hours for financial stability and the suggestion of incorporating walking or gym attendance. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of 'luxury life' is a bit repetitive, and the solutions could be more deeply explored in terms of societal or employer-led initiatives rather than just individual choices. The position is clear throughout, and the response maintains a consistent focus on the topic, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5-7.0 range, though it leans towards the 6.0 side due to the limited depth of analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main questions. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'This easy' (likely a typo for 'essay') and the slightly awkward phrasing in the introduction. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the structure supports the reader's understanding, fitting the Band 6.5 criteria.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'mitigate' and 'utilising', which is positive. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'due to the fat that' (instead of 'fact'), 'spare time' (used as a countable noun), and 'going gym' (missing the preposition 'to'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the score. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more precise collocations and avoid basic spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'people lead hectic life' (missing article 'a'), 'everyone wants to live a luxury life' (should be 'luxurious'), and 'atleast' (spelling). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips throughout. The control of grammar is sufficient to convey the message, but the frequency of errors prevents the response from reaching the Band 7 level. The student should focus on article usage and prepositional phrases to improve accuracy.
