Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation regarding 'nuclear families' is a relevant point, but it lacks specific detail or depth to fully explore the societal pressures involved. The solutions provided, such as office gyms and family yoga, are relevant but could be expanded upon with more concrete examples or logical consequences. The position is clear, but the overall development is limited by the brevity of the arguments and the lack of sophisticated supporting evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'moreover' and 'in conclusion', the transitions between sentences are often mechanical or unclear. The referencing is sometimes confusing, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'health, wealth and prosperity' and the main topic of exercise is not smoothly integrated. The paragraphing is present but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear, cohesive progression of thought.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'being a balance life', 'no denning', and 'make GMY'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use less common items accurately. To improve, the student needs to focus on learning collocations and ensuring that words are used in the correct context, rather than attempting to use complex words that result in unnatural phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('exercise have', 'technology have'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, which makes the text difficult to follow. There is a limited range of complex structures, and when they are attempted, they are often inaccurate. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces before commas and missing full stops. The high frequency of errors significantly impacts the clarity of the message throughout the response.
