Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as time constraints and sedentary office jobs, and the solutions provided, like corporate wellness programs, are logical. However, the development is somewhat limited. The explanation of why people do not exercise is repetitive, and the statistics provided regarding obesity are not clearly integrated into the argument. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or specific examples rather than listing them briefly. The position is clear, but the overall depth of the response is somewhat superficial.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices, such as 'Due to this reason' and 'To solve this problem'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'In today’s time'. Additionally, some sentences within paragraphs lack smooth flow, making the connection between ideas feel a bit disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'sedentary' (implied by 'sitting jobs'), 'obesity', and 'physiotherapy'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'they are not forced themselves' and 'facilitate with an award'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of vocabulary to describe the causes and solutions. Avoid repeating simple words and try to incorporate more academic or formal synonyms to elevate the tone of your essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'People who are going to office has no time' (subject-verb agreement), 'spend their whole day in to the office' (preposition error), and 'they want to take some rest rather than any exercise'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization after commas. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
