Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, a limited or no amount of exercise is done by individuals, either during a working day or in their leisure time; as a result, it can create many health-related issues. This can happen because of a hectic schedule and people becoming lazy. To solve this problem, they should be aware of the benefits of exercise and learn to maintain work-life balance. I will articulate this in the upcoming paragraph.

To begin with, there are many reasons why working professionals are not doing enough exercise because of a hectic work schedule. To explain, people do not have enough time to work out as they have family to spend time with and also need to make food for them. Apart from this, individuals need too much energy for the gym, which becomes zero at the end of the day, and they become lazy and avoid working out. For instance, research from Oxford University: about 23% of working people can manage both family and their health; others just compromise on health.

On the other hand, there are many solutions as well that can mitigate this problem, such as awareness. The government should raise awareness among citizens about exercise and how beneficial it is for long-term health. For example, even big enterprises are aware and now have their own gym for their employees, which encourages them to use it and rejuvenate their minds.

To conclude, indeed, people do not have enough time to work out because of busy schedules, but the government should spread awareness, which can help them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention 'hectic schedules' and 'laziness' as reasons, the explanation remains superficial. For instance, the mention of 'research from Oxford University' is a good attempt at supporting your argument, but the connection between the statistic and the broader point about work-life balance is not fully explored. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is extended with more detailed reasoning or specific examples that clearly illustrate the 'why' and 'how' behind your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Apart from this,' and 'On the other hand' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the problem and the solution could be smoother. The concluding paragraph is quite brief and does not effectively summarize the main points or provide a final thought, which affects the overall coherence. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring a more robust conclusion would strengthen this area.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary era,' 'mitigate,' and 'rejuvenate.' However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice and collocation issues, such as 'make food for them' (should be 'prepare meals') and 'individuals need too much energy for the gym' (which is slightly unnatural). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to health and workplace dynamics.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. For example, 'a limited or no amount of exercise is done by individuals' is passive and slightly awkward. There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement, such as 'they have family to spend time with' (should be 'a family'). While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they indicate a lack of consistent control over complex structures. Focus on proofreading for basic errors and practicing more varied sentence patterns.
