Student answer (Band 6.5)
There has been an increasingly pressing issue of people spending very little or no time to exercise both during the working day and when they are free in many parts of the world. As a consequence, they face a considerable number of health issues. This essay will examine its main causes and propose practical solutions.
One of the primary causes of this issue is fast-paced life. To be more specific, the modern nature of employment makes the employees to spend long hours using computers while sitting. Consequently, they face excessive stress due to heavy work load, which makes them live a sedentary life. This is primarily because they acquire proper rest at home and thus avoid doing physical exercise. Another significant contributor is lack of knowledge. In other words, many people are not aware of significance of staying fit due to shortage of the resources available. Therefore, individuals end up getting little or no exercise.
These problems can be resolved through several effective measures. Firstly, conducting public awareness campaigns could encourage people to engage in going to gyms and participating in various physical activities. Secondly, governments should spend enough expenditure to facilitate the infrastructure by making it accessible to the citizens. lastly, organizations should encourage all the employees to take short breaks to be a part of physical tasks. Implementation of aforementioned measures would make it extremely convenient for people to stay healthy.
Overall, although lack of interest in doing physical exercise arises from several interconnected factors, it can be effectively tackled through coordinated efforts from officials, organizations and individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes of sedentary lifestyles and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact of modern employment and the need for public awareness. However, the development is somewhat thin. For instance, the explanation regarding 'lack of knowledge' is vague, and the suggestion for governments to 'spend enough expenditure' lacks specific detail or examples. While the position is clear throughout, the essay would benefit from more depth and specific examples to reach a higher band. The structure is logical, but the arguments remain at a general level rather than being fully extended.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate causes from solutions. Cohesive devices such as 'To be more specific,' 'Consequently,' and 'Firstly' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the connection between the lack of resources and the lack of knowledge in the second paragraph could be more explicitly linked to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated phrasing like 'sedentary life' and 'interconnected factors.' However, there are some minor inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'spend enough expenditure' (which is redundant) and 'facilitate the infrastructure' (which is slightly unnatural in this context). The range is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding the range of topic-specific collocations would improve the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'makes the employees to spend' (should be 'makes employees spend') and 'significance of staying fit' (missing an article). Additionally, 'lastly' should be capitalized at the start of the sentence. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The control of punctuation is generally good, but the sentence variety could be improved by incorporating more sophisticated subordinate clauses.
