Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact of hectic work schedules and the suggestion of small lifestyle changes like walking. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why people feel unmotivated is brief, and the solutions could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis. While the position is clear throughout, the response would benefit from more detailed elaboration to move beyond a general overview of the topic. Overall, it covers all requirements but lacks the depth expected for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for reasons and solutions, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First of all', 'However', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'There are numbers of reasons to happen this situation'. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and flow; for example, the connection between the introduction and the first body paragraph could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved to ensure a more natural progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are some attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'sedentary lifestyle', 'cardiovascular diseases', and 'preventive measures'. However, there are several spelling errors ('obesiity', 'dieases', 'prevantive', 'Additionlly') and some awkward word choices or collocations, such as 'numbers of reasons to happen this situation' and 'cut off the sugar'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the frequent spelling mistakes and limited flexibility in word choice prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('they diagnose with', 'stay in sedantary lifestyle'), incorrect verb forms ('compared to do exercises'), and awkward phrasing ('they will get tired and with this hectic schedule they get less hours'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar structures is noticeable. The writer demonstrates an attempt at complex sentences, but these are often where the errors occur, which occasionally causes the reader to pause.
