Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 162 words long. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete; it cuts off abruptly at the start of the second body paragraph. While the introduction and the first body paragraph address the prompt by identifying reasons for the lack of exercise, the failure to complete the second part of the prompt (what can be done) and the significant under-length result in a very low score. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full, balanced response to all parts of the question and meet the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, because the text is incomplete, the overall progression is severely hindered. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Additionally' and 'consequently,' but the abrupt ending makes it impossible to assess the overall structure or the effectiveness of the paragraphing. To achieve a higher band, you must complete your arguments and ensure that your ideas flow logically from one paragraph to the next with clear transitions.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, though it is somewhat repetitive and lacks sophistication. Phrases like 'running behind money' are informal and not idiomatic in this context. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'subjected various disease' (missing 'to') and 'maintaining them physically fit' (should be 'keeping themselves'). To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoid informal phrasing. Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you express your ideas more clearly and effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writing contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. For example, 'This can solved' is missing the auxiliary verb 'be,' and 'many peoples life' lacks the correct possessive apostrophe. There is a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the frequency of errors is noticeable. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, the correct use of passive voice, and basic punctuation. Proofreading your work for these common errors before finishing will significantly improve your accuracy.
