Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay addresses both parts of the prompt—reasons for lack of exercise and potential solutions—the ideas are underdeveloped and lack depth. The personal example provided at the end is incomplete, cutting off abruptly. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay reaches the required length to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks clear paragraphing and logical progression. Ideas are presented in a somewhat disjointed manner, and the transition between the reasons for inactivity and the suggested solutions is abrupt. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas effectively. For example, the transition from discussing health issues to suggesting solutions is missing a clear signpost. To improve, use linking words such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in order to address this' to guide the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic phrasing. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'take burned of work' and 'week eye sight' (weak eyesight). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to health and lifestyle, and try to avoid repeating simple words like 'problems' or 'work' by using synonyms or more descriptive language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'this can effects on', and run-on sentences that lack proper punctuation. The range of sentence structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple or poorly constructed compound sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb forms, and using punctuation to separate distinct ideas. Practicing complex sentence structures will also help improve your score.
