Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, plenty of working people are doing little or no exercise during their working days or in leisure time. These is the primary reason to welcome various health concerns. In this essay, I will bring some light on why does this happen and what could be done to mitigate this problem.

There are numerous reasons people have for not getting even a little bit of exercise. In today's bustling life, it is quite hard for people to take a time to do exercise. For instant, the workload of office work along with responsibilities of family, end up with no time for exercise. Furthermore, individuals are living sedentary lifestyle nowadays. Along with that they are eating unhealthy fatty food from the market, which makes it more devastating towards the health of individual. For example, fatty food plus no exercise can lead to obesity, several cardiovascular disease and sometimes the mental health issues.

To overcome the risks related to this problem, government can start some campaigns or programs. Government can establish some classes for yoga and exercise at evening or in early morning which would be for free. Also, they can use various social media platforms to make it popular. Moreover, every working professional should manage their work life balance by making a schedule which allow them to allocate a time for doing exercise or going to the gym. Ultimately, this will help them to build physical health along with mental stability.

In a nutshell, there are handful of reasons for not to do exercises by working people. However, one should always take a time to do exercise to help them get better health in near future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for a lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as work-life balance and government-led initiatives. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of why people do not exercise is limited to 'bustling life' and 'workload' without exploring deeper societal or psychological factors. Similarly, the solutions are somewhat generic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or elaborate on the consequences of the proposed solutions to demonstrate a deeper level of critical thinking.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The introduction sets the stage, the body paragraphs address the two prompt questions, and the conclusion summarizes the main points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In a nutshell' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'These is the primary reason', where the antecedent is ambiguous. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'sedentary lifestyle', 'cardiovascular disease', and 'mitigate'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'bring some light on' (should be 'shed some light on'), 'take a time' (should be 'take the time'), and 'devastating towards the health' (should be 'detrimental to health'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and refining your use of idiomatic expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('These is the primary reason', 'schedule which allow them') and article usage. There are also minor punctuation and phrasing issues, such as 'For instant' instead of 'For instance'. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically checking verb endings and pluralization.
