Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern era, because of busy schedules, many people do not get enough exercise, which leads to health problems. There are many reasons for this, which I will introduce in this essay, and a solution to this problem with some real-life examples.
First and foremost, the reason is work. In most companies, people work seated jobs as receptionists or computer workers, from 9 am to 5 pm, which results in less time for any activity or exercise. For example, my father works in a truck company in
which he just has to drive the truck from one place to another, but with no fixed time, because he does not get any time for exercise as well as for any activity. Because of that, he developed some health issues like obesity. Secondly, the other reason is technology. People become too lazy to do any activity because of technology such as mobile phones, TV, laptops, etc., which leads to laziness as well as many health problems.
However, there are some ways to solve this problem by taking some measures, such as avoiding the internet, i.e. mobile phones and laptops. And going for family holidays or vacations, which leads to good health and exercise as well as having some time with family. For example, there are many shows that spending time with leads to some activity and improves your health problems, as well as improved family relations.
In conclusion, I would like to say there are hundreds of problem which result in people not getting much exercise but there are so many ways to solve those problems and lead to good health and life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the example of the father is relevant, the explanation regarding technology is quite general and lacks depth. The solutions provided, such as 'avoiding the internet,' are somewhat simplistic and could be expanded with more practical, real-world examples. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced arguments and ensure that the solutions are directly linked to the problems identified in the first half of the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First and foremost,' 'Secondly,' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical, and the flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words. For instance, the transition between the problem of technology and the proposed solution is abrupt. Improving the use of referencing and substitution would help create a more cohesive and natural-sounding text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'obesity' and 'health issues.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simple, repetitive language such as 'good health' and 'many.' To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common vocabulary related to lifestyle and health. For example, instead of 'work seated jobs,' you could use 'sedentary occupations.' Expanding your lexical range will help you express your ideas with more sophistication and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'there are hundreds of problem' (should be 'problems') and 'spending time with leads to' (which is syntactically unclear). Punctuation is mostly functional, but some sentences are slightly awkward in their construction. To achieve a higher score, focus on increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences and ensuring subject-verb agreement. Proofreading for minor slips in pluralization and preposition usage would also be beneficial.
