Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world, people are busy with their daily life routine, where they forget to get enough exercise and face health issues in result. There should be a solution for this problem, so let's discuss the statement.

To begin with, a recent study shows that people in the corporate world are so busy with their daily work, and they get drained after working the whole day. Moreover, the working schedule does not even allow them to get a proper meal, and they get unhygienic food. After coming home, they don't get enough time for themselves to cook or do exercise, which leads to health issues. For Instance, eating unhealthy food outside every day takes time to digest and ultimately leads to stomach problems. Apart from that, lack of sleep at the workplace can increase headaches.

Considering the solution, the employer should make proper schedules for the employees to let them work only eight hours so they can manage their personal life along with their professional one. Additionally, the employer should offer healthy lunch options to all the staff members in the cafeteria. For example. The management should keep multiple food options, including for vegetarians and meat lovers, which will make them feel free to eat anything. Last but not least, the firm should offer a workplace physical activity programme every week to keep their employees fit.

After discussing the statement, I believe that maintaining health and doing exercise is good for individuals. The management should support their employees and take necessary steps in order to keep them fit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation regarding 'unhygienic food' and 'stomach problems' is a bit tangential to the core issue of time management and physical activity. The solutions provided, such as the eight-hour workday and cafeteria options, are relevant but could be expanded with more depth to reach a higher band. The position is clear, but the overall argument lacks the sophistication required for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the connection between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problem from the solution, which aids readability.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. Phrases like 'daily life routine' and 'get drained' are functional but basic. There are some minor inaccuracies in collocation, such as 'make proper schedules' instead of 'set reasonable working hours'. While the range is sufficient to communicate the main points, there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language that would demonstrate a higher level of control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'in result' should be 'as a result', and 'For example. The management...' contains a sentence fragment error. There are also minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent enough to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band.
