Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 177 words. Because the essay is significantly under-length, the development of ideas is severely restricted. While the response identifies reasons for the lack of exercise (long working hours and family responsibilities) and suggests a solution (incorporating basic activities), these points are not sufficiently extended or supported with detailed examples. The conclusion is also incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, and the development of ideas is inadequate.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. However, the abrupt ending and the lack of a fully developed conclusion hinder the overall coherence. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'As a result', but the limited length makes the flow feel disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the structural integrity of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. Phrases like 'hectic professional life' and 'rectify this situation' are appropriate, but there is a reliance on simple, repetitive language. There are minor errors, such as 'beaware' (should be 'be aware') and 'life style' (usually one word: 'lifestyle'). The range is sufficient to convey the main points, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or sophisticated control expected at higher levels.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'This can be resolve' (should be 'resolved') and 'a working people' (should be 'working people'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete sentence at the end is a significant error. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of grammatical slips and the lack of structural variety limit the score.
