THERE ARE NUMEROUS REASONS WHY INDIVDUALS ARE NOT SPENDING THEIR TIMES IN ENGSGING EXERCISES. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact of sedentary jobs and the role of technology. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the suggestion to 'maintain a balance' is a bit vague and could be supported with more concrete examples of how individuals or companies can practically implement these changes. The position is clear throughout, but the overall depth of the argument is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for reasons and solutions, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. There is a clear progression of ideas, but the flow is occasionally hindered by repetitive sentence structures and minor punctuation errors. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the central topic of each paragraph is generally easy to follow, despite the lack of sophisticated linking phrases.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'NOWDAYS', 'LIFES', 'PROBLES', 'INDIVDUALS', 'ENGSGING', 'MATERALISTIC', 'SEDATORY', 'CHOLESTROL', 'BEACUSE', and 'MAINATIN'. These errors are frequent and occasionally distracting. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'sedentary lifestyle' and 'physical activities', the overall range is limited. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and incorporating more academic collocations rather than relying on basic, repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'they did not involve in physical activities' (should be 'they do not engage in') and 'it also have bad impact' (should be 'it also has a bad impact'). Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are problematic throughout the text. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding spacing after commas and periods. The frequent errors, combined with the limited range of structures, indicate a need for significant improvement in grammatical control.
