Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the lack of exercise and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation for why people do not exercise is limited to being 'busy' and 'stressed', lacking depth regarding modern sedentary lifestyles or commuting habits. The solutions provided, such as corporate gyms, are relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples or logical reasoning. The position is clear, but the overall argument lacks the depth required for a higher band score. To improve, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear explanations and illustrative examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the problem to the solutions. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'To maintain work life balance is the best key'. Additionally, some sentences feel disconnected, and the referencing is occasionally unclear. While the paragraphing is sufficient, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and does not fully synthesize the main points.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'sedentary' (though not used), 'physical activities', 'work-life balance', and 'anxiety'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'no slots to keep themselves healthy' or 'solution of the exercise'. The student relies on basic phrasing, and there is a lack of more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control. Improving precision and using more varied collocations would enhance this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the exercise', 'an individual'), punctuation (missing spaces before commas), and sentence construction ('by create a schedule'). Some sentences are slightly ungrammatical, such as 'accepting busy life in working hours it should be possible'. These errors do not significantly impede communication, but they are persistent. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately without missing components.
