Student answer (Band 5.0)

These days exercise have become the daily diet for people. It is believed that the hectic life of people is a hurdle for them to create a healthy life by not getting time to exercise much. I will be discussing the reasons and solution for the same in the ensuing paragraph.

To begin with, firstly, travelling long hours to earn money. Money has become a necessity or each and every individual. Moreover, these days it has become so hard to earn a penny for even the survival. As a result of this, people travel long distances wherever they get job in order to have a good life. Secondly, sedimentary lifestyle in their free time. People rarely get time for themselves and sometimes are are no leaves at all. However, they get frustrated by their work but cannot do anything so they spend their free time in relaxing and not doing anything even for themselves.

To overcome this scenario, inner peace should be prioritized. Life is a one time offer do not waste it in such things. Yoga should be done atleast 15 minutes a day so that one can feel stress free and work in the present moment as it will increase the power of focus. Not only this but one should also do bhatrika it also does the same thing.

To encapsulate this in one, things will always come in our way but it is on us how to keep ourselves fit and fine and relaxed in between this chaos.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt by identifying reasons why working people lack exercise—specifically pointing to long travel hours and a sedentary lifestyle in free time—and suggesting solutions such as prioritizing inner peace and practicing yoga. However, the development of these ideas is limited and somewhat superficial. For instance, the discussion on travel uses repetitive phrases like 'earn money' and 'earn a penny' rather than extending the argument into broader socio-economic or time-management pressures. The solutions rely heavily on personal lifestyle changes rather than broader practical measures. Consequently, the task is addressed only partially, as some points lack depth and clarity. This performance aligns best with Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates some basic organization, using introductory and concluding paragraphs alongside transitional markers such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'To overcome this scenario'. However, the overall progression is disjointed. The second paragraph abruptly transitions between ideas without smooth linking, and the paragraphing is somewhat erratic, with the main body split into very brief segments. Furthermore, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To encapsulate this in one'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in the phrase 'solution for the same'. While the text can be followed overall, the lack of smooth logical flow and faulty cohesion place this response firmly in Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and inadequate for a high band score, featuring frequent lexical errors and inappropriate word choices. A prominent example is the use of 'sedimentary lifestyle' instead of 'sedentary lifestyle', which changes the intended meaning entirely. Other awkward phrasings include 'daily diet for people' to mean routine exercise, and repetitive terms such as 'earn money' and 'free time'. While common words are generally communicated, the noticeable lexical errors and lack of precision cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 5.0 level of performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

Grammatically, the response displays a very limited range of structures, with frequent errors that impede understanding. The very first sentence contains a subject-verb agreement error: 'exercise have become'. Other problematic constructions include fragments and tangled syntax, such as 'sometimes are are no leaves at all' (likely meaning leaves/leave as time off) and 'Life is a one time offer do not waste it in such things'. Complex sentence attempts are frequently faulty, leading to punctuation issues and awkward phrasing throughout the text. Because errors occur consistently and occasionally distort meaning, this falls into the Band 4.5 to 5.0 range, comfortably warranting a 5.0.
